Jason Lee Scott

Austin St. John stars as Jason Lee Scott on "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers," the original Red Ranger and the team’s first leader. As the most experienced and disciplined member of the group, Jason helps guide the Rangers through their earliest battles against Rita Repulsa and her monsters, setting the tone for the team’s courage, teamwork, and sense of responsibility. His leadership makes him one of the defining figures of the franchise’s original era.

Before joining "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers," St. John trained extensively in martial arts and brought that physical background to the role of Jason. His athleticism and action skills help shape the character’s confident, capable presence on screen, and the part quickly becomes his breakout role. Through the show’s early success, he becomes closely identified with one of the franchise’s most recognizable heroes.

In addition to his work as the Red Ranger, St. John continues with the franchise as Jason takes on new responsibilities within the team, including a later return as the Gold Ranger on "Power Rangers Zeo." That continued connection to the series strengthens his place in "Power Rangers" history and ties him to two of the franchise’s most important heroic identities. His performances help establish Jason as a central figure in the mythology of the early seasons.

Outside of "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers," St. John remains closely associated with the franchise through later appearances and fan events connected to the series’ long legacy. His portrayal of Jason Lee Scott remains the role most strongly linked to his career, and it stands as one of the signature performances of 1990s action television for younger audiences. On "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers," he helps create the original standard for what a Power Ranger leader looks like.
