Dave Blake
Michael Toland plays Dave Blake, an ex-baseball player who grew up an orphan and whose life dream was to provide a home for kids who like him never had one. Now retired from sports, Dave wants to serve as the father figure for his brood, but has a hard time being the authority figure in a household of six teens. Toland has one real-life teen of his own, his daughter Erin, 19, who has provided him with a wealth of experience for his television role.
Toland has many interests in the entertainment field, including acting, singing, composing music and playing guitar, and has done each professionally. He first became interested in acting at a young age, after seeing the classic film "The Razor's Edge," starring Tyrone Power. He went on to perform in high school plays and later attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City, where he turned his interests towards music. Toland also attended New York University and performed on stage with the T.O.M.I. theatre group and was a member of The Groundlings in Los Angeles. As a guitarist, he has also performed as the opening act for both Jeff Beck and Sly Stone. Toland's television credits include "Home Improvement," "Young and the Restless," "In Living Color," "USA High," "Acapulco Heat" and "Miami Vice," among others. He has also appeared in the films "Fear," "Wild Times" and "Without You I'm Nothing," among others.
In addition to writing and performing music, Toland enjoys playing basketball, baseball, tennis and skiing. He now lives at home with his wife, Stephanie, daughter, Erin, and their two parrots, Raja and Bamboo. His birthday is June 12.
