Wesley Jonathan plays Jamal Grant, a street-smart teen from Harlem who knows how to get along on the tough streets of New York. An intelligent, honest kid from a hard-working family, Jamal tries to stay out of trouble, but somehow it always seems to find him.
Jonathan is a veteran of such television shows as "Misery Loves Company," "Sister, Sister," and "Thea." He has also guest starred on "NYPD Blue," "21 Jump Street," "Moesha," "Promised Land," "The Parent Hood," "Baywatch," "USA High," NBC's "A Different World" and "NewsRadio," among others. His film credits include the lead role in the Mario Van Peebles feature "Panther," as well as featured roles in "High School High," "Unlawful Entry" and "Just Say No."
Born in Los Angeles, Jonathan spent four years living in Germany as a youth and still speaks some German. He first became interested in show business when his cousin Crystal brought him along on her acting auditions. At age nine, he asked his cousin to let him audition, and within six months got his first role, a small part in the television series "21 Jump Street."
When he's away from the set, Wesley enjoys basketball, volleyball and swimming. He has also performed as a singer, rapper and hip-hop dancer with a group he formed with his friends. His birthday is October 18.
