Marcella Lowery plays Manhattan High principal Karen Noble, a no-nonsense administrator whose "tough love" approach has earned her the respect of everyone at the school. As a former teacher and an accomplished actress, Lowery could not have been more perfectly suited to her role on "City Guys."
Lowery first became interested in acting in her twenties, after seeing a friend perform on stage in "Prodigal Son." She soon began taking acting lessons and quickly earned a spot in the Negro Ensemble Company's workshop. Her first professional role was in the ensemble's "Day of Absence." Lowery later appeared on Broadway in "Lolita" and "Member of the Wedding," and most recently, she performed in a one-woman show, "Haiti La Rain Gives Notice" at the 1997 Womankind Festival in New York.
Her feature film credits include "The Preacher's Wife," "What About Bob?" and "Arthur." On television, she was best known as Francine Tibideaux on "The Cosby Show," but she also appeared in "Ghostwriter," "Law & Order," "New York Undercover" and "The Cosby Murder Mysteries," and scores of TV and radio commercials. A New Yorker at heart, Lowery spends her free time writing and describes herself as a "voracious reader." Her birthday is April 27.
