Jack Krizmanich debuts on "Passions" in the role of John on December 31. The role he's playing may be mysterious, but luckily Jack doesn't mind opening up about himself! Read on to find out more about this exciting newcomer to Harmony.

How did the role on "Passions" come about for you?
My agent Lee Daniels, who I started working with last year, wanted me to start taking acting classes. I took a couple, but whether I went to class depended on how I was doing financially. I didn't make it to too many classes. He started sending me out on auditions here and there. I went to the one for "Passions," read, and felt really confident about it. I had plenty of time to prepare. Then, I got a call that they wanted to see me again so I flew out here. It was pretty nerve-wracking. I went in, did the test and felt really good about it. I figured even if I didn't get the part that I'd done my best. I wouldn't have changed it. And then I got the call that I got it.

What was your first day like?
I felt half-nervous, half-excited. I didn't have a ton of stuff to memorize. I was mainly anxious to figure out how everything works. I like getting in a routine as soon as possible. I just wanted to feel comfortable right off the bat.

Was there anyone particularly welcoming?
In the beginning, I was mainly working with Justin (Carroll, David). He was really welcoming and gave me all kinds of advice and tips. Everyone was so nice and extended a hand. Everyone was really helpful.

Did you ever watch "Passions" before you got the role?
I'd never seen it. I did remember when it first came out though. When I had the audition, I told a couple of people and I found out some of my really good friends are hard-core "Passions" watchers. They'd just never admitted it!

When you first watched the show, what were your thoughts?
I was told that it was pretty over the top. I watched it and got hooked after the first episode. It's funny and so wide open as to what can happen. When I heard about the kind of following it had, I got even more excited.

Would you like to be involved in the supernatural aspects of "Passions?"
Yes! I hope I have something crazy happen to me that I can run with.

Has it been fun learning more about the character as you go along?
Every time I get my script, it's like opening a present when I see what I have to say.

How did you get started in acting? Did you always want to be an actor?
Growing up, acting was always the fantasy. I love pretending. I was always big into action movies and wanted to be the next Van Damme. I still have so much to learn about acting. Justin said "Passions" is like a boot camp for acting, and that I should use this for education. I'm going to try to learn as much as I can here.

You moved here from New Jersey. What was it like leaving friends and family behind?
I'm from outside of Philadelphia, but I had been living in New Jersey, right outside of the city for about two years. It was kind of tough to leave, because I was really comfortable back east. Work was going well-I'd been modeling the past two years. I was only two hours from my parents. The town I lived in was really cool. I'd finally met a circle of friends I was comfortable with, and had just met my girlfriend. It was hard leaving, but at the same time, it was exciting. I knew I was starting something new.

What do you like to do when you're not here at work?
I'm always at the gym, although I haven't found one I like out here. I love playing basketball and football. I like to run, to be outdoors. All of that is kind of my release.

Have any fan letters come in for you already?
I got a couple, which definitely shocked me. The first time I saw one, I thought someone was playing a joke on me. I'm definitely flattered. I don't have a computer yet. But when I do, I'll try to respond to as many people as I can. If I can respond and make someone's day, that's cool.

What's the most surprising thing to you about being on a soap?
I think the fact that everyone is so down to earth. No one looks down on you because you're new. Everyone has a genuine warm feeling about them. Also, everyone works so hard. Everyone takes the job seriously. But they also have fun, so I feel like I don't have to stress too much. I was told--get here on time and know your lines and you'll be all right. I'm trying to stick to that plan and hopefully things will turn out just fine.
