NBC introduces a new comedy with "The Nanny," a lively sitcom that blends classic fish-out-of-water humor with heartfelt family moments. Set in New York City, the series follows an unconventional caretaker whose bold personality and distinctive style turn an upper-class household upside down.
Comedian Fran Drescher stars as Fran Fine, a spirited cosmetics saleswoman from Queens who unexpectedly lands a job as nanny to the three children of wealthy Broadway producer Maxwell Sheffield. Despite having no formal childcare experience, Fran quickly wins over the household with her warmth, honesty, and unmistakable charm.
Maxwell Sheffield is played by Charles Shaughnessy, whose reserved and sophisticated demeanor often contrasts with Fran’s outspoken humor. Overseeing the Sheffield household is the sharp-tongued butler Niles, portrayed by Daniel Davis, whose quick wit frequently fuels his ongoing rivalry with Maxwell’s business partner C.C. Babcock, played by Lauren Lane. Meanwhile, Fran’s lively personality brings new energy to the lives of the Sheffield children—Maggie (Nicholle Tom), Brighton (Benjamin Salisbury), and Grace (Madeline Zima).
"The Nanny" combines sharp comedy with family-centered storytelling, exploring the humorous culture clash between Fran’s working-class Queens upbringing and the refined world of Manhattan high society. Through its colorful characters, fast-paced dialogue, and romantic tension between Fran and Maxwell, the series offers audiences a modern sitcom filled with warmth, laughter, and heart.
"The Nanny" is created by Fran Drescher and Peter Marc Jacobson. The series is produced by Columbia Pictures Television in association with NBC.
